Cachoeira

Today started off pretty early, 7:30 am. We packed up the van after some ate breakfast and headed to the Brazilian countryside. On the way there we made a few stops, one being at a market and the other was a small farm. In the market we saw a lot of people buying and selling their product. We also got to try a few of the items being sold which was really cool. Next we stopped on a small farm where they made this flour type stuff that goes into a main cuisine. Then we set out to Cachoeira, finally. We rode to the top of these mountains and ate lunch which was awesome. The view was amazing. After our tour of the cigar factory and other places we headed back to the hotel.

Thursday

So far so good here in Salvador with my class mates, everyone’s awesome. Today we got up and went on an Afro Brazilian oriented tour around different parts of Salvador. We started off at a lake across from the World Cup stadium that housed statues of condemble gods. Afterwards we went to visit this Catholic Church that was gorgeous and highly decorated. Next we went to a local artist home/museum where he made art on ceramic tiles for about 60 years or so. Then we went to this Brazilian community where we went inside a condemble worship house.

Moqueca

Today was awesome just like all the others. We started today off with Brazilian breakfast at the hotel. I never really eat it I just drink the juice and go about my day. Afterwards we went to pelorihno on bus to this cooking school. There we learned how to make several bahian dishes which was cool. But my favorite dish was the fish moqueca,  it was hands down the best I’ve ever eaten while here. The fish was perfectly cooked along with the tomatoes, onions, and other ingredients. That dish is one thing I definitely have to try out when I get back home. Later that day we had class where we went over more dream weaver work for web design. Next was dinner, I ate some of the best pizza I ever tasted. It was a place around the corner from the hotel that served us and it was great.

Teken

we started today with capoeira which was amazing. It was always something I wanted to learn since I knew what it was from video games. We were doing all kinds of movements and stuff that was really tiring but, it was a great experience.  After that class I was pretty sore but I kept on going. Next was class where we presented our ads and postcards, everyone did an awesome job on these. Once we got done with that we went to lunch which is always great here. Afterwards we came back to the hotel and got ready to go to church.  Being in a church made by slaves was cool because it’s still standing. All in all today was great.

Long Live Steelo

Started today off with going to class where we continued to work on our “Wish You Were Here” ads and postcards. After that we we went through web design which went well. Next was lunch where we had local Brazilian cuisine which was great. Once we got done with lunch we went to learn samba and other Afro Brazilian dances. Although it was tiring it was an awesome experience. But the highlight of the day was when we got on the bus, and one of the local teens got on listening to Joey Badass which sparked a convo on rap. It was dope that he knew who Joey Badass was and liked his music. And it was dope how we all understood each other even though there is a huge language language barrier.

Guaraná

Other than class today was a free day. We started off with production on our “Wish you Were Here” ads and ended class with a brief walk through in web design. Afterwards it was lunch time where we ate moqueca and other Brazilian foods. Food is amazing down here even the McDonalds here is better than back home. Later on after we ate we all kind of did our own thing which was cool.

First time able to blog, been through a lot from missing my flight. But today was awesome, we went to 2different islands on a boat. Normally I wouldn’t ride a boat but today was an exception. And also we played cut op with the locals which was dope we got beat but it was an experience. Salvador is one of my fav places to visit now.image
